I bought a special experience with Hilton Points, so that was a good excuse for a quick weekend in Chicago. The four of us left right after school and flew to Chicago. We stayed at the Radisson Blu Aqua, right by the park. We took the metro in to town and walked to the hotel. We explored the room, with a view of Navy Pier and the park, then went to bed.
We had access to the lounge at the hotel, so we had breakfast there each morning and snacks in the evening. The NFL Draft was in Chicago this weekend, so Saturday we went to the draft and then walked around to see all the NFL exhibits. We then walked into the city and had pizza at my favoite pizza place, Lou Malnati’s. After lunch, Trey and I went back to the NFL exhibits while Susan and Natalie went shopping. We met back at the hotel that night with intentions to go to a concert, but instead stayed in the hotel and watched movies.
Sunday morning, the kids and I went swimming at the hotel. Then we all walked more of the city. I am planning a Senior suprise trip for 20+ kids at church. We wanted to look at the hotel that they would be staying at. It was not great but was in a great part of town. We explored the area for a while and had lunch at Portillos hot dogs. We then rented bikes and rode around the park and the kids played on the new playground for awhile. After that, we got our bags from the hotel and Uber’d to our next hotel by the airport. We went to the mall that was next to our hotel for a little bit. This is where we split up. Susan and Trey stayed at the mall for while longer and then went to the airport to fly home.
Natalie and I went to a concert that night. We got to do a meet and greet with Paramore before the concert. They were really nice to Natalie and we made small talk and took pictures for about 10 minutes. There was one other little girl and her mom doing the meet and greet as well. The concert was fantastic, and we were able to walk to our hotel afterwards. The next morning, Natalie and I swam in the hotel pool, and went back to the mall for a while. Then we went to the airport and flew home.
